Sizzlers @ 100 degrees!

Well I am not talking exactly about the temperature, but about the signature restaurant from the Ohri's group. A sizzling sizzlers event was something which most of were looking forward to at 100 Degrees. A sizzler joint is definitely welcome in Hitech city which is already teeming with myriad restaurants serving cuisines that I cannot count on my fingers.

Again, this place is nicely done with some cool interiors. I have been observing, of late, many restaurant establishments have been focusing more and more on the interiors and not just on food. Perhaps they have found that ambiance has got a different meaning these days and its just not about curtains, drapes and upholstery. Well the pictures can explain it better than me perhaps!

Since I was on a vegetarian diet that day, I opted for the vegetarian option available. This is one of the few instances where I can say I really liked vegetarian food! The onion rings were just superb. Crispy crunchy and perfectly browned. Though I wouldn't say the same for the nachos - they were just mediocre. They also served a basket of bun/bread(not sure what its name was) and when a friend suggested to try it out with the mustard sauce provided on the table rack, I did get a little shock! The mustard sauce was pungent to the extent that it was quite comparable to wasabi. On my next bite, when I added a bit more I was on the receiving end for that spectacular kick through the nose that is very commonly associated with wasabi.

After a mixed bag of starters, when they served though huge earthen pots with drinking straws and stirrers sticking out, I could only pray that they last long until I finish my sizzlers. Yes, I have been an ardent fan of sizzlers and I always have a soft drink / mocktail to drown the heat of the sizzlers. Boy! these pots were like a huge well! The mix of Anu was what I liked the most. A chatpata (savory-sweet-salty) taste and a very cooling effect, just right to go with a sizzler. The sundowner tasted quite artificial to me and the pomegranate seeds on the serving plate were just for the garnish. Okayish I would say.

The mushroom sizzler was quite good. The mushrooms had a filling(of which I had no idea) and were crumb-fried. The rice on the hot plate did have some flavor, part from that of the gravy. I felt it was still better than the veg cutlet sizzler, which was nothing but potato cutlets to a large extent. Though the black pepper sauce on the veg cutlet was fiery and nice, many would probably like to tone it down. I gathered from others, the sauces for the sizzlers were at a medium to high level of spiciness.

To finish off, a dessert that justifies all that sizzles - sizzling walnut brownie was what I opted, while my wife chose the New York cheese cake. The brownie tasted quite good with a dollop of icecream added on top of it.

Even though the place the packed, the staff tried their best to keep up the level of services. Largely, it was a good experience and I know I am coming back as much as I can for the sizzlers.
